What is a Fibroblast Plasma skin tightening treatment?
It is a new treatment specifically designed to dramatically enhance looks without cutting, or removing excess skin or fat, plasma fibroblasting is a great substitute for traditional surgical and injectable treatments.
What are Fibroblasts?
Dermal fibroblast. Dermal fibroblasts are cells within the dermis layer of skin which are responsible for generating connective tissue and allowing the skin to recover from injury.
The micro trauma caused by plasma stimulates Fibroblasts, existing collagen and elastin in the skin and promotes the production of new skin cells which will help to strengthen, and tighten the skin.
New cell production continues for several weeks after a session. This helps to refine fine lines and wrinkles, and improve the overall complexion of the skin.
How does Plasma skin tightening work?
Plasma Fibroblasting treatments work on the principle of ionized gas in the air. At the right distance from the skin, oxygen and nitrogen are mixed, and the electrostatic energy produces the plasmatic effusion or arc, which discharges onto the skin.
Without actually touching the skin, this plasma arc vaporises the skin forcing it to contract and stimulates fibroblasts – the cells responsible for the production of collagen.
Small carbon crusts form on the skin, resembling dots, which slough away over the coming days to reveal regenerated skin.
This micro-trauma and stimulation is the key to the treatments results.

Q: How long does Plasma Skin tightening last?
The effects should last as long as they would with invasive surgery. The results can last you years depending on the area treated. The positive effects of treatment will be noticeable immediately after the first treatment, but the best results will be seen after 4 weeks.
Like any surgical procedure the effects aren’t entirely permanent and won’t stop the ageing process. However, the results you get should last you for many years. The positive effect of the Plasma Fibroblast treatment will be noticeable almost immediately after the first treatment and continuing over 4 weeks.
Q: Is Plasma Skin Tightening painful?
Plasma is mildly to moderately uncomfortable. Everyone’s pain level is different and some areas of the body are more sensitive than others. Numbing cream is helpful in reducing the discomfort during treatment.
Q: Are You a Good Candidate for Plasma Skin Tightening?
- Plasma skin tightening is an effective treatment for all skin types and skin tones. But, you are NOT a good candidate for plasma skin tightening if you have:
- Open sores in the area to be treated
- Conditions that affect healing, such as oxygen dependence, poorly controlled diabetes or an autoimmune disease
- Significant stretch marks, scarring, scleroderma or lupus
- Previously undergone a cosmetic treatment in the area
- A history of keloid (raised scar) formation
- Poor vascularization (blood vessels)
- Additionally, you should not undergo plasma skin treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Q: What are Plasma Skin Tightening Results?
The effects of treatment are visible immediately after the procedure. Fibroblast activity continues for up to 1 year later, stimulating the production of new collagen and further decreasing skin laxity.
The number of treatments plays a role in the efficacy of plasma skin tightening, particularly if low energy is used in the first treatment. Patients who underwent plasma treatments reported facial tightening improvements of:
- 30% after the first treatment
- 50-60% after two treatments
- 70-80% after three treatments
Plasma skin tightening has demonstrable positive improvements on other parts of the body as well like eyes, face, forehead, hand, stomach, skin tags, and much more.
Q: Are results permanent?
Results of plasma skin tightening are permanent, but do not stop your skin from continuing to age or any damage caused by the sun. Though your skin laxity is improved and tightness increased, your skin will still continue to go through the aging process, including the further breakdown of collagen, renewed skin laxity, the appearance of new wrinkles and visibility of other skin imperfections and blemishes.
Q: Safety and Side Effects
The potential to experience severe side effects is rare following plasma skin tightening. As a nonsurgical procedure, there is little trauma to the body and no damage to the skin as a result of cuts or incisions. As a result, side effects are mild and clear up within 1 month. In fact, plasma skin resurfacing has an excellent safety profile.
When compared to other alternatives (specifically laser skin tightening), plasma treatments do not present the risk of visible demarcation lines, or lines that visually separate untreated skin from the treatment area. Side effects following treatment include:
- Mild to moderate skin redness for about 2–3 weeks
- Skin peeling for up to 9 days
- Darkening of skin for up to 1 month (resolved with topical agents)
Q: What is the aftercare advice for Plasma skin tightening?
- Clients can resume normal activities immediately after their session. A sensation like sunburn is often observed, if clients feel particularly aware of the treatment area over the counter anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen can be taken.
- Do not pick, peel or pull at skin. Wait for skin to recover naturally. This period of visually not looking 100% is worth the wait! The area treated must be kept free of all make up, mascaras, creams and lotions other than recommended aftercare products.
- Cleanse the area twice daily with mild soap and lukewarm boiled water to avoid build up of bacteria. Do not use alcohol-based cleansers or apply plasters as this can slow healing.
- Expect some swelling for one to five days after treatment – recovery times are generally shorter than this. This is a normal reaction, and part of the initial stages of the skin healing & rebuilding. Typically swelling is at its worst on day 3 and will have subsided by day 5.
- To prevent scabbing, clients should keep the area moist using aftercare products, and supplementing their diet with additional vitamin C.
- As the area heals and dries, a light crust can form on the skin. Do not pick, and keep clean and dry.
- You must wear SPF50 and stay out of the sun 6+ weeks to avoid sun burn.
